The Vienna native was practicing assiduously and dreaming of a concert debut in her city’s fabled Musikverein concert hall when her life and career were interrupted by threats of war. Like her daughter, Lisa showed extraordinary gifts at an early age. She is the daughter of the late Lisa Jura Golabek, a celebrated concert pianist and teacher with an extraordinary life story. Some might argue that Golabek’s life and career have led inevitably to this moment. Not ever,” Golabek said of her star turn in her one-woman play, “The Pianist of Willesden Lane,” which opens this weekend at the Laguna Playhouse. ![]() “It was not something I envisioned for myself. Now she’s following a path that few pianists have taken: acting.
